OK so hear is the deal with makeup, You want everything when you see it because you think you need that brand or from that store. You really don't and you end up wasting money on makeup you never or rarely use. So here I will tell you what items you can splurge on and what items you can purchase anywhere else.
Splurge on this:
1. Foundation
This is one of the most important ones because this is going on your entire face and neck area and you want something that fits your skin type & right shade. Higher end brands tend to give you more options for your special needs; if you have oily skin or sensitive skin you are sure to find something that is right for you.
2. Eyebrows
I think this is important because it is what frames your face and it is a very noticeable aspect that you cant ignore. I know it can be ruff at times when you are in a hurry but with practice you can master it and it will only take you minutes. Spending a little more on grooming does a lot because you then have a template in which you can work on; for example trimming or plucking as they grow.
3. Concealer
You can't live without it, it hides your dark circles if you have stayed late, it can hide the redness of an unwanted pimple. Good concealers hide it all without making your face look cakey. Make sure you find the right shade for your face too light and everyone will see the difference.
4. Make Up Brushes
This is something that will help you apply your makeup fast and simple. Once you get the hang of it and learn the functions of each brush you will be ready to go. This is a once in a while investment brushes last a long time if you properly take care of them. Remember to wash your brushes every week! You can buy a complete kit of Sigma Brushes for $98-210
5. Eyeshadow Palette
This is something that is in between for me because it does not matter if you have a high end or drugstore, but I think that buying one or two palettes that have the shades that you need for your every day looks is just fine. or you can spend the same amount on individual drugstore eye shadows trust me you will go crazy with that. Great palettes that work for me and a lot of other girls are the Urban Decay NAKED Palettes 1 and 2, the basic and the Smoked. I live out of the smoked palette and it is my favorite, I also own the Naked 2, they last a long time and they have everything you need. If you don't want to spend the $50ish that these palettes cost you can go for the BH Cosmetics Palettes which are inexpensive and give you a larger range of colors.
Save on this:
1. Mascara
They last the least I believe of all your makeup pieces so spending a lot on them makes no sense.
There is no doubt that you need to remove your makeup before going to sleep, but do not spend a lot buying products that you really don't need. I used to purchase the wipes that ran from $6-12 for 25 or 50 and if you used makeup like many of us do then you know 2 things. One is not to remove all the makeup from your face and second you are always running out. I recently received an Olay Fresh Effects Va-Va-Vivid! Powered Contour Cleaning System from Influenster and I fell in love with it, you can purchase the set for $12.99 and trust me you love it too. For a review go here!
3. Eyeliner
This is a tricky one because I use both high end and drugstore eyeliner and I find that the drugstore eyeliner works best for me.
4. Lipstick
There are many drugstore makeup brands that have a great quality and selection of shades for lip products you do not have to spend a lot to get those amazing colors. If you know what shade fits you and what you like, this is easier for you.
5. Bronzer
There are lots of great bronzers that do the job just fine at drugstores. I recently found that the NYC Sun n' Bronze Powder is amazing! and it is only $5
